Strange...I updated my adobe reader software and the problem is persisting, but it's showing up properly if I view it through google docs or another program. Guess I still have to figure that out, but since the problem is apparently not with Latex I'll see what I can do elsewhere. Thanks for your help!

I am having the same problem. Out of nowhere the reader changed the font and couldn't display the bullet points in itemize lists. The document opens fine in Adobe Reader, I was just wondering if you ever found out what went wrong?

perhaps describe your case in detail. I suggest, post a Infominimal working example, which shows the problem, the corresponding .log file and the output PDF file as attachment.

I ended up clearing the font cache using the commands found in the attached article and it has seemed to resolve my issue. Hope this helps others with similar problems.
