TeXnicCenter 1 Beta 7.50 released

Postby Sven » Sun Jun 22, 2008 11:59 am

After two years of silence, version 1 Beta 7.50 of TeXnicCenter has been released.

Major new features in this release:
  • Behavior of autocompletion window greatly enhanced.
  • Create a new file from the selected text. The new file will be included using \input{}, \include{}, or some user defined command. (Menu "Edit | Outsource Text...")
  • Column for word wrapping can be defined by user.

Major bug fixes in this release:
  • Crash on startup when restoring invalid last session.
  • Profile wizard does not recognize newer versions of Miktex or Ghostscript.
  • Buggy code (ifpdf...) in templates.
  • Crashes due to long lines and words.
  • The application did not respond when files were saved during closing a project.
You may safely install this version of TeXnicCenter over a previous version 1 Beta 7.01. Older versions have not been tested, but are likely to work, too.

Go to the TeXnicCenter download page to get the release.

Will you also release the source code? There is a crystal edit version, where a unicode converter is included. I would like to try to include this into texniccenter. I've also tried to program unicode support into the (old) source code. I've got it compiled all the way, but the linker stopped because the bdcontrol lib doesn't support unicode. Is there a bgc63u.lib version around?

By the way, I've tired to find an alternative to texniccenter - well there is none. Texniccenter is almost perfect (Almost, because of the missing unicode support). You guys do a super job and I'd like to thank you for it.

Cheers

Sven,

This is really great news! And kudos to this German developer!

When you metioned in another thread that we can expect a new release soon I thought that it will be a matter of months, maybe weeks, but not days. Impressive. And there's already another developer interested. Let's hope that the development team will only grow from now on.

Cheers,

Tomek

Source code will be available. To be exact: The source code is already available via the CVS repository on the sourceforge project page.

Nevertheless a version supporting unicode will also be available soon. Tino as the current maintainer of TeXnicCenter will provide some information about upcoming releases soon.
