With revision 759 released on 21 March the TeXworks editor has officially reached the stable version 0.4.0 in its release history. In the meantime this version has been incorporated into current versions of the MiKTeX and TeX Live distributions and is available via update. The full list of features and bug fixes is available on the project page [1].

The TeXworks project aims to lower the entry barrier for beginners in LaTeX by providing a simple front-end to TeX. It is available for all major platforms. Focus is on producing PDF as default output by using the PDF(La)TeX and Xe(La)TeX typesetting engines.

Yesterday, Revision 829 marked the official release of version 0.4.1 as a minor update. A changelog is not yet available. Among minor bug fixes the new version contains mostly translation updates.

Yesterday's official release of revision 852 marks the next bug fix version 0.4.2 of the TeXworks editor. With the upgrade of SyncTeX to version 1.16 there is a main new feature beside some important fixes. The full change log is available on the project page.

With version 0.4.3 (r858) on 29 June TeXworks has got the next update. This is a bug fix release with no features added.

TeXworks Releases

Just a few hours ago version 0.4.4 (r1002) of TeXworks has been released. This version is supposed to be integrated into the upcoming TeX Live 2012 distribution. It comes with some important additions and changes.
  • Bring the window running TeX to the top at the beginning of typesetting to ensure that the console output is visible
  • Add "Clear Recent Files" to "Open Recent" menu
  • Add an autocompletion entry to the preferences dialog
  • Add Lua(La)TeX to the default tools (and drop LaTeXmk by default)
  • Add an option to open log files
  • Update SyncTeX to version 1.17
  • Update/improve scripts: open pdf in default viewer, derive spellchecking language from babel package, log parser
