All PDF files closed with Start of Compilation

Post by Leila09 »

Hello,

I'm doing well as a beginner in LaTeX except that I have a little problem with the compilation, I explain:
I use WinEdt 6 and everything works well with the compilation PDFTeXify but apart from that, other windows on the pdf (which are not the result of compilations) will close at the launch of PDFTeXify.

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro X as a viewer.

If you can indicate me the solution?!
Thank you in advance.

Use SumatraPDF, it does not lock the file and you will be able to compile your documents without closing them.

If you really want Adobe Reader, use version 9 or older, version X has some serious issues.

Mostly, it scans all the time for pdf files and refreshes its database or something. I too use a lot of pdf files at the same time, and this refreshing lags my machine.

Also, your reader may open these pdf files as tabs, instead as separate windows. This way the reader will have only one process (guessing here), so when WinEdt requests closure of one file it will close the whole window with all the tabs.

You can check by opening your files, and then right-click on the taskbar and bring the Task Manager. Then see how many processes the reader has.
