Adobe Reader doesn't show PDF, with MiKTeX

Post by Lucas Malor »

I don't know why, but after a while I tested it, Beamer class doesn't work anymore. Now if I create a simple Beamer document with title only:
  • if I compile it in PDF, Acrobat Reader asks me the language (?) and shows me nothing... but in %temp% the pdf exists!
  • Yap shows me the DVI, but it gives me the error you get when you load hyperref, but hyperref is not loaded (error is "Some PostScript specials could not be rendered" etc.)
I removed %AppData%\LyX2.0 and %temp% but nothing. What happened?!

I'm using Lyx 2.0.2 with MikTex 2.9 under WinXp sp3 without admin privileges.

Recommended reading 2024:

LaTeXguide.org • LaTeX-Cookbook.net • TikZ.org

NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.

And: Currently, Packt sells ebooks for $4.99 each if you buy 5 of their over 1000 ebooks. If you choose only a single one, $9.99. How about combining 3 LaTeX books with Python, gnuplot, mathplotlib, Matlab, ChatGPT or other AI books? Epub and PDF. Bundle (3 books, add more for higher discount): https://packt.link/MDH5p

update: I uninstalled Lyx and Miktex, removed manually profile folders and reinstalled them. It works until I add a frame (return, BeginFrame, name of frame, return, content of frame, return, EndFrame). I must search for the pdf in %temp% folder every time. Very annoying.

Ok, solved. I uninstalled Acrobat Reader and installed SumatraPDF :)
