General ⇒ Hyphenation

I am looking for a way to close the gap between LaTex docs I make and professional-quality docs. Hyphenation behaviour looks quite different. I have a list of preferred hyphenations, but professionally-typset docs do it better, with fewer hyphenations. Any advice?

Hi Sekantombi,

I recommend the microtype package, see its documentation. Its font expansion feature can produce a more uniform greyness of the text and further could reduce the number of necessary hyphenations.
