LyX ⇒ references and cross-references

I am having problems with references.
Specifically, in some of my LyX documents (not all), LaTeX complains at compliation if there are commands in the LaTeX preamble like:

\newrefformat{pro}{Proposition \ref{#1}}

I am not sure why this applies to only some of my documents, while others complile fine with these commands.

I heard that LyX was moving from default prettyref to refstyle, or the other way round. But I did not find much info in the User's guide.

What is the current standard way to insert references and define formatting?

Hi,

you could post the log file here, as attachment to a post. We could have a look at the information therein. Perhaps post such a LyX example document as attachment as well, for testing.
