Use Adobe Reader as the default Viewer

Post by Wolfenstein »

I recently installed the new MiKTeX and I was happy with the fact that it came with a bundled TeX editor but there is one thing that annoys me with TeXworks. In the TeXworks PDF viewer you can't view the document in double page nor continuous layout and having the first page alone like it was a double page to the rest of the document get viewed like it would when it was printed and I cannot figure out how to set it to open Adobe Reader instead instead when I push the typeset button.

NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.

And: Currently, Packt sells ebooks for $4.99 each if you buy 5 of their over 1000 ebooks. If you choose only a single one, $9.99. How about combining 3 LaTeX books with Python, gnuplot, mathplotlib, Matlab, ChatGPT or other AI books? Epub and PDF. Bundle (3 books, add more for higher discount): https://packt.link/MDH5p

The support of external viewers isn't yet implemented in the current version of TeXworks. It is planned for the future, but temporally not determined.

Then do you have any insider information about the TexWorks viewer getting a more convenient viewing option in the future? The editor is starting to grow on me but I want to be able to view the pdf document like I do in acrobat reader.

No. That's an information from the TeXworks project page. Note that the Ad0be Reader is far from being a good partner for LaTeX editors since it doesn't support such useful things like the SyncTeX technology for forward and reverse search between source code and PDF output.
