General ⇒ Problem with PDFLaTeX and PDF View

Hi,
I've had a weird problem with latex. I'm using Kile 2.0.85 and when I use pdflatex, no error is detected. However when I push the button "viewpdf", it tells me that the pdf does not exist and asks me "did you compile the source file?" (I've also tried TeXworks and I get the same problem). I've updated latex but nothing...I get the same error. More specifically, I get the following:

Error: PDF file is damaged - attempting to reconstruct xref table...
Error: Couldn't find trailer dictionary
Error: Couldn't read xref table

The thing is that I used to work with this .tex file and it worked fine with its figures and tables and whatever. But I had to change Ubuntu to a more recent version (Ubuntu 11.04) and with these kile and latex versions, I get this error.
