TexWorks Invading TeXnicCenter? (and Compilation Problems)

Post by jdbarrer »

Hi,

I have just installed the MikTex 2.9 to work through TeXnicCenter on my previous writings.

This version associates the dvi files to TeXworks. The first problem is that I don't find a way to change this association so I can keep editing my text with TeXnicCenter. Does anybody has an idea on how to solve this problem?

A second (and perhaps worst) problem is related to the compilation: I have noticed that the plataform was "cheating" me: it seemed to compile with no errors but it was showing an older version of the dvi file. At some point I made a change in the text (via TeXworks) to confirm it, and TeXnicCenter indeed recognized that the text was modified "outside" and asked authorization to reload it. I authorized it, and all the accents became a mess! (so I probably have a thirty-pages problem now). Finally I moved the dvi file, and TXC was not able to compile a new file, nor in the PDF format.

Has anybody have this problems? how can I recover the autonomy of TXC in editing TeX files?

Just assign the Yap DVI viewer as program to open this kind of files by your system settings.

TeXnicCenter (TXC) 1 RC1 can't handle UTF-8 encoded files. This encoding is default in TeXworks. Try TXC2alpha3 (Build 1118) or another editor which supports Unicode.
