Command like 'pdfglyphtounicode' in Xe(La)TeX

Post by novicedude »

Previously, I was using PDFLaTeX to generate PDF files and would use the command

Code: Select all

\pdfglyphtounicode{fl}{0066 006C}
to map the text layer of the PDF file to have the "fl" ligature be read/searched as the separate letters "f" and "l". I had similar lines for other ligatures used.

This command doesn't work with XeLaTeX though and often times leaves ligatures unsearchable and not working with the 'read aloud' feature of acrobat.

Is there a similar command to allow the text layer of the PDF file to have the correct letters for ligatures in XeLaTeX?
