Not a valid Win32 Application

Post by chevydevil »

Hello. I installed and used TeXnicCenter RC 1 together with MikTeX for my Bachelor-Thesis and everything worked fine. Now a few month later without any change in my versions, I get a strange error when I want to compile my projects:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MiKTeX 2.9\miktex\bin\pdflatex.exe Der Befehl konnte nicht ausgeführt werden. Fehler: %1 ist keine zulässige Win32-Anwendung.

In english: The command can not be executed. Error: %1 is not a valid win32 application.

This is for LaTeX => PDF, for DVI and PS occurs a similiar message, just with the corresponding executable. It is project independent(my bachelor thesis won't compile either). The path is correct. I can execute these files per doubleclicking or in the console. I also asked google about it without any effort. So can anybody help me? Thanks.

Seems as if you ran into major systematical problems. Probably it is better to contact the MiKTeX maintainer or consult a Wind0ws related forum. Feel free to report back after you got answers.

Best regards and welcome to the board

Hm. But this only occurs when I run the executables out of TexNicsCenter. In fact it is a output of it. So running the executables out of windows works fine.

Are you able to compile TeX documents from the command line, or using TeXworks?

Something is wrong with your Build Output Profiles settings. I suggest that either you post them here and that we try to fix them, either you switch to TexnicCenter 2 alpha 3 (it works very well).

Texniccenter 2 Alpha 3 did the job for me. (Almost) everything works fine now.
Thanks.
