MiKTeX and proTeXt ⇒ package installation issue
package installation issue
I use Miktex 2.7 and LED as my editor, while compiling a file it showed that beamer.cls is required along with on fly installation box. I then clicked on install and browse to my path of local repository , beamer got installed.
Again it showed me some pgfcolor.sty file missing and i click on install, this time it showd me unable to find pgfcolor.sty. thou the package is in repository, the name of the file is pgf.tar.lzma, this file is in repository, still miktex refuse to install it. i dowloaded this file from ftp site
When it showed me an error for Wasym.sty file missing i clicked install and it got.
Am unable to understand why some package get installed on fly and others don't. I've downloaded all of them from the same site.
Can please some one help me out with this. I want pgf and xcolor package to get installed. which am unable to do. both package are in my local repository.
the name of the files are pgf.tar.lzma & xcolor.tar.bz2
also why are the extension of packages differ some are .cab, while other are .tar .lzma .. (this one is not so important but just want to know )
Pls................, Pls........... let me know how to got about getting this solved
and yes thanks for such a good forum. i got the solns for most of my queries, thanks thanks a lot

metric

package installation issue
try in the package manager menu: repository -> synchronize.
Recently updated packages are in .lzma format, oder still .cab or .bz2. lzma should provide better compression and faster decompression, look here.

Thanks for the info. i've already tried repository -> synchronize, but still the same error is displayed. (\tex\latex\......pgcore.sty) not found.Stefan_K wrote:Hi metric,

Re: package installation issue
it should be pgfcore.sty, not pgcore.sty! But this could be a typing error.
If you installed the package manually (copied into the texmf tree) go after that to the MiKTeX options and click the Refresh FNDB buttom.

Re: package installation issue
Thanks, Thanks a lot.
Just want to inform you that after it did this. i again downloaded the package from
ftp://ftp.jussieu.fr/pub/TeX/CTAN/syste ... /packages/
this is not from where i earlier downloaded.
as while copy-paste i realised some of the file were missing.
and belive this packaged installed on fly.
I don't know where i downloaded the package earlier which worked too, but i have to manully copy-paste.
Then later when i downloaded the package from above site , on-fly installation worked.
Above link is good i understand to download packages if any one of our member need them.
Thank you once again for the support.
