BibTeX, biblatex and biber ⇒ Ensure that only cited References appear in List

Is there any way, using BibTeX, to ensure that only cited references appear in your reference list?

I understand that this is the default behaviour, however, it is not working for me as all references are showing up including non cited ones.

Also, I do not have the \nocite{*} command anywhere.

Please show some (as minimal as possible) code that reproduces this since – as you've stated – this is not the normal behavior.
