How do you produce side by side labels in an enumerate environment?

For example

a) Text Text Text Text Text Text

b) Text Text Text Text Text Text

Text Text Text Text Text Text

except not looking literally like that above^ BUT the labels a) & b) are aligned side by side and the text aligned with the labels

You can get it by using the paralist package. The asparaenum environment should help you get the desired result.
