\righthyphenmin in XeLaTeX
Does this command not work in XeLaTeX? For Danish, it seems to be 2 by default, but changing it to 3 has no effect; nor has \setlocalhyphenmin{danish}{2}{3}.

\righthyphenmin=3 normally should work. Try setting it after \begin{document}.
