LyX ⇒ How to insert Hebrew text?

Hi.
I have some problem with previewing my article (in dvi or pdf or anything else).
I'm writing an article and simply copy&paste an expression in Hebrew (from Word document) into my LyX article. Like this: (benei elim בְנֵי אֵלִים).
It is displayed in document editor (I use LyX 2.0) correctly, but when I want to check preview (dvi, pdf) error occurs:

Could not find LaTeX command for character '*' (code point 0x5d5

with description of this error:

Some characters of your document are probably not representable in the chosen encoding.
Changing the document encoding to utf8 could help.

What shall I do to insert Hebrew text correctly?

there are several steps you need to take, and I'm having problems with them myself (so I can't completely solve it for you). However, the first step is to set your output engine to xetex, which you can read about here: http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/XeTeX

However, when I follow those steps, I hang on needing "bidi.sty," which is the bi-directional style spec. I can't figure out how to install that onto my (gentoo-linux) distribution. ymmv, etc etc

When I clicked on 'Use non-TeX fonts' in Document Settings
then at least I did not get error.
But in output pdf place where Hebrew text should appear is blank.
I hope it will be solved one day.
