Scaling PDF in lyx pagebreaks

I am having touble with scaling my pdf files in my lyx documents. I am currently able to scale my pdf by clicking on the pdf (after importing it) going to the size and rotation tab and scaling the image to what ever size i choose. My problem is that no matter what size i choose to scale the pdf document, the document will always appear on its own page. If i choose 10% i get a 10% sized box with my pdf file in it on its own page.
For the last few homework assignments i have just left the PDF files at 100% and said see next page but i would really like the ability to scale them down and keep the file on the same page that i am writing on.

I am using Lyx 2.0.orc3

any help ideas would be much appreciated

Please, provide an example .lyx file with some dummy text, together with an PDF file, put them in a ZIP archive and attach them to your next post.

Here is an example from my last homework of my original question. I scaled the first pdf and left the other at 100%.

I inserted the pdfs by
insert>file>externalmaterial... and then selecting the pdf template

By using "external material" you're in fact using pdfpages package to insert an external PDF into your document. This function is intended for inclusion of complete pages prepared out of LaTeX, always separated from the text before and after them. So, to solve this issue, simply use "Insert > Graphics" or "Insert > Float > Figure."

Thanks a lot, i used the insert graphics and it worked perfectly.
Out of curiosity, when i tried Insert>Float>Firgure i got two red boxes. What would i type in the red boxes to insert the pdfs?

In the inner red box, in front of which is written: "Figure x:" (where "x" is a number) you type a caption for the image. And above that box you actually insert the image (Insert > Graphics). I recommend you read LyX's User Guide, chapter 4, for more informations about graphics and the difference between floats and non-floats.
