Serbian Cyrillic Document few problems

Post by ibogi »

Hello,

I am an Ubuntu 10.04 user using default settings. I am writing a Serbian Cyrillic document and selected Serbian from Document->Settings->Language. Following problems appear:

- Fixed names (like Abstract, Chapter, Table of Content) appear in wrong (Serbian latin) script
- Hyphenation doesn't work (I have textlive-lang-other installed)
- Export to rtf produces gibberish
- I have problem with quotes (""). There are many different kind throughout the document (dunno why). Is there a simple way to convert them to serbian style quotes („“) - it seems that Document->Settings->Language->Quote Style option doesn't have any effect

Serbian Cyrillic Document few problems

I suggest that you use LyX 2.0.0rc3, then in Documents > Settings > Fonts tick "Use non-TeX fonts (via XeTeX/LuaTeX)" then in the drop-down list(s) below choose a font that contains full set of cyrillic characters, like Adobe Minion Pro. This way you'll be using XeLaTeX to typeset your document, which is a better solution than LaTeX since XeLaTeX + Polyglossia are better suited for multilingual documents and give you advantage of using any OTF or TTF font installed on your system.

As for quotation marks, they work if you type text directly in LyX. But changing them automatically isn't possible AFAIK. You'll have to do Search-Replace I'm afraid.

Export should work fine when using XeLaTeX.

As for hyphenation, all I can do is to point to this link hoping it'll be of use to you.
