Please help to identify this old font

what kind of font is that? It looks like default CM but somehow is different...

Open the PDF in Acrobat Reader, then go to File -> Properties -> Fonts, you'll see a list of the fonts used. Looks like the main text font is NewCaledonia.
System: TeX Live 2012, Fedora 18 x86_64, GNU Emacs 24.2

Does anyone know how to create pdf in latex using this NewCaledonia font? what package to use? thanks

As far as I know, this font is shipped with a Mac OS in Postscript Type 1. As alternative you can order this commercial font as True Type Font (or perhaps Open Type) in a font shop and use XeLaTeX for your document(s).

I am still not sure. I have NewCaledonia font in my fonts on a Mac, but can I produce pdfs with this font using Latex? if yes, then HOW?
