Latex cite doesn't separate authors' names with commas

Post by ptrcao »

In the final typeset reference list, authors' some names aren't separated with commas (see image). I believe I've used the correct syntax in my .bib file. I do use the "plain" style, but I assume that authors' names would be separated, that seems elementary regardless of style.

Code: Select all

@Book{thompson,
editor    = "F. L. Thompson and B. Austin and J. Swings",
 title = "The Biology of Vibrios",
 publisher = "ASM Press",
 year      = "2006",
 address   = "Washington, D.C."
}

@article{stefan_etal_2000,
	author = "Stefan Hörmansdorfera and Helmut Wentgesb and Karin Neugebaur-Büchlerc and Johann Bauer",
    title = "Isolation of Vibrio alginolyticus from seawater aquaria",
    journal = "International Journal of Hygiene and Environmental Health",
    volume = "203",
	number = "2",
    year = "2000",
    pages = "169--175",

You can see that Karin Neugebaur-Büchlerc and Stefan Hörmansdorfera have not been separated properly with a comma.

Sorry, problem solved: I was not processing properly, ie. running pdflatex bibtex and then pdflatex again, so the changes weren't implemented.

I'm still confused. I don't understand the need to process several times over and how to customise a processing sequence to the effect needed to typeset references properly in TexWorks and TexMaker. How do I customise the proper pdflatex+bibtex+pdflatex sequence?
