MiKTeX and proTeXt ⇒ Prosper and windows 7

Hi,
I have a presentation that has been compiled perfectly by Miktex 2.8 using the prosper class on windows vista home premium four month ago. I have just installed a fresh windows 7 and also Miktex (I have tried both 2.8 and 2.9 versions). Unfortunately, the dvi, ps and pdf files generated using the new installation do not show the whole content of my presentation. To be more clear, the content is shifted towards left so that left-side of my presentation is hidden. When I compile the same .tex file on my wife's laptop with the same installation of miktex (but windows Vista) it works perfect. I highly appreciate it if you help me get out of this nasty situation.

The prosper class as well as the patching ha-prosper package are obsolete [1]. Direct successor is the powerdot class. Read the manual and pay special attention to the remarks regarding compilation. If the problem persists, provide a minimal working example (MWE) with your next post.

To others with the same trouble: This doesn't appear to be OS-specific (I'm having the same trouble on Windows XP); rather, it looks to be something that changed/broke in a MikTex version change, or possibly some additional package installation. Anyways, to fix, include the line
\renewcommand{\slideleftmargin}{1.3in}
directly after your ha-prosper usepackage.

And to the not-so-helpful initial reply: I and others I'm sure would *Love* to see an step-by-step "converting from ha-prosper to powerdot" tutorial.

We are not here to write tutorials, but to discuss problems. This is no help desk, but a discussion forum. If you know somebody who can spend his spare time to write a tutorial, please let me know. And in this case there is no tutorial needed since just altering the document class to powerdot is almost the only thing to do. Details can be found in the class manual. Wherever problems arise, feel free to ask.

To clarify, I wasn't asking for a tutorial from the forum members -- I was merely pointing out that curiously the powerdot authors had not included any such discussion with the CTAN package docs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you addressed me directly and my first reply here.

But perhaps I misunderstood something in this statement. If you need help for migration, you could ask the powerdot maintainer to supplement the manual with a small section that describes possible pitfalls. Or just start migrating a document and ask targeted questions here on the board (but not in this topic).
