two column in nomenclature / list of symbols

Post by carloslam »

Hi everybody, I'm using LyX to write my thesis. I now face a problem: I'm trying to list my symbols in two columns to save space - although it works, the second column always starts from the very top of the page, i.e. immediately on the right hand side of the word "nomenclature" and it looks very ugly.

I know LyX use the package nomencl. I have read the manual of this package and it doesn't offer any immediate answer.

I have tried both the \twocolumn Tex command and the multicols package (i.e. using codes \begin{multicols}{2} and \end{multicols}) to create the two column layout, but they give me the same result and hence the same problem.

I hope someone out there can help me. Many thanks!
Carlos

I am sorry to have wasted this space as I've just found myself a solution! The trick to my previous question is to use the built-in 2-column function in Lyx which can be found under Document, Settings, and then Text Layouts.
