Hello,
this is my first try to put TeXnicCenter onto my Laptop and my question seems to be that fundamental that I can not find it before:
I am asked to "choose the directory where the files to be executed (TeX, LaTeX, etc) of your Distribution are lieing" (Sorry, I try to translate from german.)
I installed MikteX. Whatever I give, the installer sais there is not the program "LaTeX" inside.
It would be nice if somebody can tell me what to do.
Thanks,
Miralda

On newer systems (Wind0ws Vista, 7) this should be
Perhaps a user of a current Wind0ws system can confirm this.

Re: Which directory contains the MiKTeX executables?
Thank you for the help and the welcome, Thorsten!
Although for me it is still obscure where my texts are saved and what is going on while compiling, it is working now and gives me at least pdfs
Obviously your tip worked, this is the correct path.
I already read the intstructions, therefore I am sorry if I was unpolite or missed to give informations...
Kind regards,
Miralda

Perhaps some basic reading will help you with the first steps [1]. For the maintenance of your TeX system you should take a look at the MiKTeX Manual [2].Miralda wrote:[…] Although for me it is still obscure where my texts are saved and what is going on while compiling, it is working now and gives me at least pdfs […]
Then please mark the topic (not the last post) accordingly as written in Section 3 of the Board Rules (to be read before posting) and as you have already been directed in my last reply.Miralda wrote:[…] Obviously your tip worked, this is the correct path. […]
