How to view the number of pages with Lyx?

Post by knot-83 »

Hi,
I would like to know if there is a way to see the number of pages that will create Lyx, without necessarily compile the document in pdf.

It is very important to me, because my laptop is very slow and I would avoid wasting time.

Thanks

There is no direct way to get page numbers because it is so much dependant on your document settings.
There is under TOOLS, Statistics an immediate output of word count.

To get page count It would be better to select View> DVI
The DVI takes a moment to be generated then on the right side of the DVI view selsct Navigate> last
You end up on the last page and can see the page and the page number.

The DVI view shows exactly how your document and pages will look so I find it a useful quick look because sometimes things that you would prefer to stay together on same page end up on next page. Sometimes also a short bit of text ends up on a new page. If it is going to be last page I do a bit of rewording or adjust paragraphs to avoid adding a page.
