main window text all compressed...kerning?? spacing??

Post by chocochoco »

UPDATE: This was solved by installing the latest version 1.6.9 using the standard installer. I had originally installed using the altermative windows installer, which includes version 1.6.8
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I just performed a brand new install of lyx, miktex, etc. on a vista machine sp3.
all is working fine, but in the main preview window, as you can see

http://contrakyoto.byethost9.com/images ... 091409.png

the text is all scrunched up. I mean as if the kerning or text spacing is all messed up.

This happens in documents I create, and in the sample documents, all documents.
The output looks fine, perfect. At first I thought this is just how it is supposed ot be, but if I look at

Image
it doesnt quite look as nasty....

In addition, the first paragraph of the section is not properly indented?

probably a very easy fix to the default setup, but what is it?

thanks in advance
