Replace fraction line

Post by maykot »

Hi there, I wonder if it's possible to replace the fraction line in the \frac, \dfrac, etc. commands with a custom symbol.

More specifically, what I need are at least two commands (ideally two for \frac, two for \dfrac, etc.) that replace the line separating the numerator from the denominator with this symbol:Image and this symbol:Image respectively.

I need them to behave exactly like their parent commands (except for the line), because I'm going to use pretty large equations, thus the commands must automatically resize the symbols (images above) to fit to the equations width.

The two symbols above are just to give an idea of what I want. I believe it must be easier just to ad the "little arms" to the fraction line then adding a whole new symbol to the commands.

I have no idea how to do it, not even where to begin. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.
