I, newbie, recently installed miktex and texniccenter and get this message everytime i build a document:
Entering LaTeX 2.09 COMPATIBILITY MODE !!WARNING!!
why? how can i turn this off?
help would be much appreciated as i seem to be unable to use features now that i could otherwise.
I'm using:
TeXnicCenter 1 Beta 6.31 "Firenze"
MiKTeX 2.5
WIN XP Home

You've probably used the (obsolete) syntax from latex 2.09 instead of latex2e's at some point, or an obsolete package. This has nothing to see with texnic center: latex compiler just warns you. What's your preamble anyway?

it was my preamble, i fixed it now (i'm not sure exactly what's different now, but i copied the beginning of someone's example latex document to mine, and that did the trick :-p)
