Does TeXworks display a navigator?

Post by Montag »

Hello,
because I finally encountered the typical "GUI framework" error with my TXC and MikTeX 2.9 (and the usual solution doesn't help :(), I'm looking for another editor.

Does TeXworks have a navigator that can display the document structure (\section) and included files (\input)?

I don't think so... or at least it didn't last I tried it.

Texmaker and TexMakerX do. You might try one of those. (I recommend the latter.)

TeXMakerX really seems so overloaded. Like ... totally. :shock:
That's why I started looking into TeXworks.

It has something like that, but it's kind of hidden:
Window --> View --> Tags

Wow, somehow I missed that. Sorry. That seems to be a trend with TeXworks -- it has a bunch of features that are there but not very obvious. Very nice to know. Thanks.

Really? Compared to TeXnicCenter? I thought only Kile compared to TXC in featuritis. Maybe the regular Texmaker (without the X) would be more your style. Nowhere near as loaded. :twisted:

Thanks, torbjorn. But it doesn't seem to work for commands like \input. Grml ... :/ Or am I wrong? :) Because then TeXworks would seem like a good
choice.
BUT ... to whom it may concern: To set the default font in the editor to MS Shell in 8pt, that was quite a shock. :shock:

I don't know Kile, but all the colors in TeXMakerX and auto-completion features and buttons to click on ... woah. Or it may be very well the csae that I configured my TXC "down" over the years, but IIRC I only change 3-4 settings after my last re-install.

No, currently there is no support for this, it seems:
http://code.google.com/p/texworks/issues/detail?id=6

As mentioned at the bottom there, this feature won't be implemented until a project feature is added, but when/if the developers will switch focus toward that, I do not know.
