To have a cross-reference with no page number one uses |see. For example,
\index{hi|see{hello}} produces hi, see hello.

How can I do the same for a spanish text, where instead of "see" I need "véase" to appear?

Recommended reading 2024:

NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.

And: Currently, Packt sells ebooks for $4.99 each if you buy 5 of their over 1000 ebooks. If you choose only a single one, $9.99. You should be able to change it by changing the command \seename:

Code: Select all

\renewcommand{\seename}{v\'ease}
(I'd put this right before \printindex.)

There may be other ways to accomplish this, however, especially if you use xindy rather than makeindex.

The babel package with the »spanish« language option should do that for you. There is at least a corresponding entry in the language definition file »spanish.ldf«.

Thank you very much for the answers. Indeed, the Spanish Babel package does it automatically, as indicated by localghost. Works transparently.

Then please be so kind and mark the topic accordingly as written in Section 3 of the Board Rules and as you have already been directed in my last reply.
