TeX Live and MacTeX ⇒ tlmgr error in TexLive 2010

OK, I've now installed texinfo it via tlmgr because I had previously left it out deliberately, as I told you. Now I should wait for the next update of texlive-docindex because tlmgr doesn't let me uninstall it as it is a fundamental package.

Have you tried:

sudo tlmgr install --reinstall texlive-docindex

?

The error message given earlier in this thread has nothing to do with texlive-docindex package, it was about two missing files from the xits package. Dunno, why they were missing, but if that was the only problem, I wouldn't worry too much. After the update, the new version of xits should be installed, hopefully with all files.

The OP can check consistency of the installation files with (in case some more vital stuff is missing):

Can you figure it out? I can't.

All is fine, tlpkg/backups/*.tar.xz are just backups files, so you can restore the previous version in case of a bad package update.

That I didn't have followed TUG guidelines.
