I was wondering if someone could demonstrate the use of a float to display text. Maybe even include a border and caption for extra credit. I'd like it if everything is in the same file, which should hopefully make things easier.
For MAJOR EXTRA CREDIT, I'd like to see this used in conjunction with the "multicol" package. I'd like to see a float (or equivalent) restricted to a single column, with text "around" it (but in other columns). Again, some type of border (or background) and caption would really be great.
I'm asking this because I'm using the "framed" package with the "multicol" package. My "framed" objects keep getting split apart, and LaTeX seems to want to use a whole page for only part of the "framed" object. I want the "framed" object to function as one object, without being split apart. Then Latex should naturally put text around it using multiple columns.
