Document Classes ⇒ Article with appendix

Hello guys,

I'm writing an article with the documentclass{acm_proc_article-sp}.
I have to make appendix to this article but it looks kind of odd if the appendix has the same layout as the article (because of the columns actually). Is it possible to make another different layout to the appendix in the same document class?

The appendix should be like in a a4paper with no columns just like in a report fore example.
Is that possible?
