How can I adjust (reduce) the space under my document title created with \maketitle?

Use the titling package: it has commands to customize your titles.

right, it's the same author, but why shouldn't I provide that link? You mentioned just the title of the package, neither author nor link, but it can be found easily on CTAN of course. I could not find this collection or a link to it inside the CTAN directory of titling and not in the README or package documentation too, so I found that worth mentioning.
Nice comment. Sbd. could have overlooked it, the author's name is on line 1 or 2 in each documentation. I hope, the link to the examples was useful for dmt even if they were done by the same author.

I did not test the package, but those examples are looking impressive, so I agree with you that this package should be very interesting! I wonder why the author did not mention his package in that collection pdf.
