LyX ⇒ Can't open or save

I have just installed lyx.
I can't open or save a file in Lyx : the common dialog box doesn't display.

I think this kind of question is better suited for LyX mailing list, since it's more technical in nature then LaTeX-related. Nevertheless, be it here or LyX's mailing list, you really should provide more infos like operating system you're using, which version of LyX did you install, did you encounter any problems during the installation and from where did you download the installation file. Also, which TeX installation do you have installed (TeXLive or MikTeX)?

EDIT: In case you're using Windows (especially W7), try to reinstall LyX and do "couple of reboots" (according to Ben85's experience).
