Problem opening PDF files from TexMaker

Post by joaomiguel »

Hi.

I have installed MikTex and TexMaker, and everything is running smoothly except when I Quickbuild or press F7 to View PDF, when TexMaker tells me "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found."
I checked the path for Adobe Reader, it's OK. But it still doesn't work. I mean the pdf file is there, looking great, and i can open it, but not from TexMaker. Does anyone have any clue how to solve this?

Thank you!

I forgot to say that I have also tried with Foxit Reader, for example, and it still says that he cannot open the file...

Make sure that the compilation process is running properly. Check the log file for warnings or error messages. On the screenshot I can see an error message at the bottom of the TeXmaker window (Messages / Log File) which is partly covered by other windows.

In case if someone still facing this problem.
It appears at a time when you have another pdf file opned with acrobat. To solve this you have to start separate instance of acrobat. There is command line option:

/n Launch a separate instance of the Acrobat application, even if one is currently open.

In "pdf viewer" text field you should have:
"C:/Program Files/Adobe/Reader 8.0/Reader/AcroRd32.exe" /n %.pdf

This issue has been already disscussed. For a possible workaround see this thread.
