bibtex help

Post by rajaijah »

Hi,
I am new to Latex. Just started to learn about it yesterday. I have texniccenter installed and figured out how writing works in latex to a little extent. I understood how to create a bibliography at end of the document but would like to learn and do bibtex. Is Bibtex embedded in Latex program I have installed or should I download BIBTEX as a separate program. If so where do i download it.

I tried including the
\bibliography{reference1} command and when i try to create the pdf it created a .bbl file but how do i get a .bib file where I can type info abt my references. Also how do i edit the file. does it open in the texniccneter or a separate BIBTEX program.

I know it sounds so stupid that I cant figure this out. I tried about 2 hours to figure out and then decided to get help instead of wasting more time.

Thanks
