Output to editor jump not working

Post by Stoonroon »

Using Windows XP, TeXnicCenter 2.701 Beta and the MiKteK 2.7 distribution, with the cursor in the editor, hitting F5 takes me to the page of the same paragraph in the Yap window. But it doesn't work the other way around. Instead, I don't even get a cursor in Yap. I get a big cross-hair, which, when double-clicked gives me a transparent point-incremented ruler spanning across the page. Hitting F5 while in the Yap window does not seem to do anything. How do I get to a particular location in the editor from the same location in the Yap window? Or Ghostview/writer, if it works better in PS?

I'm new to the Windows side of LaTeX. On a Mac, double-clicking at a particular spot in the "Preview" window (counterpart of Yap) takes you within a word or two of the same spot in the editor. The spot is a small chunk of text highlighted in yellow. Very user friendly. Is there anything like that available in Windows?
