How to Label below operator

I want to label below an operator say "max". I checked the maths guide, it says some operators like 'lim' and 'sum' put label below the operator by default, but in the case of "max", if I want to indicate the control variables with which the function maximizes, what should I do?

You can use the \underset command in LyX as well: When in the math environment, simply type \underset and hit the space bar.

I do not know if it is available in the menu or toolbar.
