Select all & copy all text (body, footnotes, etc.) in LyX?

Post by jsmm »

I need to have a .lyx document translated and would need to have in .txt the full text. If I do Select All + Paste into a .txt file, it only pastes the body text, not the footnotes, etc.

I have tried opening the .lyx file with a text editor, but this renders the text with line brekas, unusable for translation.

Thanks for your help,

jsmm

For that, there is always File > Export (e.g. HTML (MS Word) may be useful).

Thanks for your reply,

Let me explain myself a bit better:

1. I need both body text and footnotes either in an .html or a .txt file.

2. Exporting to .txt only sends the body text. Exporting to .html keeps the footnote numbers in the body text and a list of numbers at the end of the .html file but missing the long text in most of the footnotes.

Therefore, I was hoping there might be a way to either:

a) Select and copy both body text and footnotes in LyX to paste it afterwards.

b) Select and copy just all the notes.

c) Export both body text & complete footnotes via a special command to an .html or .txt file.

Thanks so much for your help

It seems that without exporting the text first, you cannot do that. Also, it is really strange that you lose some of long footnotes' text when exporting to .html. Can you provide an example .lyx file with some dummy text that shows the issue?
