I am a regular user of TeXnicCenter. Today I decided to upgrade my latex environment. I installed the latest ProTex distribution after uninstalling the old components. was then installed in my system. I found a peculiar problem while building the tex file. Whenever a new package is required to be downloaded, the build exits with 0 error, 0 warning and unfortunately 0 pages. I searching through the log, I found the line "... Gui framework cannot be initialised...", whenever it has to download a new package.
I then tried the Texmaker, which comes along with the Protext package and it worked fine. It downloaded all the packages and built the pdf. After the run of Texmaker, if I run the TeXnicCenter on the same tex project, it builds properly, with a correct pdf output.
In brief I suspect, the TeXnicCenter 1.0 (RC) with the Protext distribution is not able to initiate the Gui window for updating the package repository.

TeXnicCenter 1.0 (RC) update GUI problem
A known problem with TeXnicCenter (TXC1 RC1) [1]. Try a parallel installation of TXC2 alpha 3 (Build 1118).

Thanks, it works. And version 2 looks a real cool product. Miles ahead of version 1.
