Problems when trying to print pdf from LyX
I'm a newbie to this forum and a total newbie to LaTeX and LyX, which I'm using since a few months. I'm getting to know the limitations LyX has and tried to install MacTex in order to make up for LyX's shortcomings. I got an error message telling me that MacTex couldn't be installed. But... which is worse... since then I cannot view my .lyx files as pdf. Every time I try I get the following error message:
File does not exist:
/var/folders/t3/t3+mvCAPHfq22J6VwCpxcE+++TI/-Tmp-/lyx_tmpdir.xJL181/lyx_tmpbuf5/Basic_Model_1.2_27.pdf
Basic_Model_1.2_27.lyx is the file name. I would be too happy if anyone had a solution to this...
Cheers for your help
Kat

Re: Problems when trying to print pdf from LyX
I am surprised that you felt there are shortcomings in LYX. The manual is online right there in your computer and it will tell you how to do almost anything. Even those things not native to lyx can be done by inserting bits of Latex code. Click on INSERT at top of your screen and look at the drop menu it allows you to insert TEX.
If you find something you cannot do in LYX ask on this forum before branching of to use another program LYX is actually fantastic.
