LyX Language problem
I'm using LyX, but I'm from Sweden so I'm getting some problems with the language. First of all, I've downloaded the Swedish language pack (along when it was installing), but the spell checker doesn't work. First I had some trouble when I tried to change the language from English to Swedish, but eventually I solved that problem. Then when I had succeded to change to Swedish, no words where marked as incorectlly spelled, in spite of that they where incorectlly spelled. That's not the biggest problem though. When I insert special objects like characters and table of content, the text "Chapter X" and "Contnts" pop up. I want that in Swedish, but everything is still in English, and I can't get around it. If not anyone knows how to solve this, or what I have made wrong, I'll have to stop using LyX and continue using Word for everything instead. Please help! Is there any soluton?

You may, but Word isn't match for LaTeX when typesetting is at stake. You may consider first entering of text in Word or similar app, and, after you finish, do spell check and export it as .txt (I use "Encoded txt" format to export from OOoWriter) and import it in LyX (you may even import it as .doc file). Then you can make structure of your doc as needed. Many authors are used to enter the text first without any kind of formatting, and do the formatting after work/writing is done. So you can do the same: Word for typing, LyX/LaTeX for formatting/typesetting.TriKri wrote:Thanks. I tried to view it as pdf once and got "content" and "chapter", but maybe that was before I had managed to change the languag correctly. But maybe I'll just concider using word instead since it got a good spell checker.
By the way, LyX has a spellchecker, only it is not "inline" spellchecker (doesn't check for errors while typing and doesn't display them on screen). If it doesn't work for you, you may check your settings. As I remember, it uses "Ispell" by default, so check if it's installed correctly and that you have Ispell support for Sweden. Or, change it to Aspell.
BTW, although I like LyX, I think it's not the happiest solution for working with LaTeX. You may try other LaTeX editors as well.

Whether the names for chapters, sections etc. can be changed to your desired language depends on your TeX-setup, if the needed languages are included (which they usually are, unless you are working in a very rare language, which Swedish obviously is not).

Ok, Albanian is a rather rare language -- in reality as well as in the world of TeX. Unless good language files are written and included in all major TeX distributions, you will need to write your own one. This is not a LyX but rather a LaTeX issue and I am afraid but can not tell you how to write your own language file (though it is possible).Bjorn21 wrote:only Lyx 1.6.0svn has the albanian language (it is a beta and kind of buggy), the other versions of Lyx do not have my language.
