can't change document settings

Post by toonvl »

Hey all,

I've copied my lyx files from Ubuntu to Windows and now i can't change my document settings (of the head lyx file) any more. The 'ok' or 'apply' buttons just won't become enabled. The strangest thing is, this is only for the main file, with the included lyx files, or any other lyx file, i can still change the document settings.
I've already tried to save it as another file, but the problem stays..
Does anybody know what's wrong with the file, what kind of option I must've ignorantly enabled or something..

all help is more than welcome ;)

I am taking a guess.
LYX files under Linux can have attributes changed by several different things.
Go to your LINUX system click on the file that is giving you a problem and check properties / permissions. You may find that the file has been made read only to even the owner who is presumably you. Try making sure it has read and write permission before you copy it to windows. In the permissions window under Linux you can fix that as long as you are actually the owner of the file.
This is just a guess but maybe when you copy it to windows as a read only file keeps it read only. Under Linux version control can have a file made Read Only without you being aware of it but there are also other things which get the permissions changed to take you by surprise.
