Scientific Workplace V5.5 discounts for students

Post by steve de costa »

This might be an unusual request but I still thought its worth asking. I am looking for a good deal on Scientific Work Place V 5.5. I already have the V 3.5. I wanted to buy the new version but the cheapest it gets (even for students ) is $260 (compared to $30 for WinEdt).
Does anyone know of any means/channels through which, it can be bought cheaply? (and yes, I want a legitimate copy).

Thanks

NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.

And: Currently, Packt sells ebooks for $4.99 each if you buy 5 of their over 1000 ebooks. If you choose only a single one, $9.99. How about combining 3 LaTeX books with Python, gnuplot, mathplotlib, Matlab, ChatGPT or other AI books? Epub and PDF. Bundle (3 books, add more for higher discount): https://packt.link/MDH5p

The free tools for LaTeX are amazing in their range, versatility and power. Don't waste your money. You might start with LyX and work your way towards direct source editing with any of several free tools.

I have used Scientific WorkPlace since, I believe, version 2; I now use version 5.5. I also know LaTeX well enough to get around. Scientific WorkPlace is an excellent, simple-to-use front end to LaTeX and I highly recommend it. SWP produces complicated error free code with minimal effort and time. I use the integrated computer algebra system extensively. Online support for MacKichan products is excellent. The upgrade price is reasonable. If you wish to view examples of things I have generated essentially using Scientific WorkPlace please navigate to www.sitextools.com and click on the Samples link. You may also find the items on the Training link informative.
