Hello,
I have just updated to revtex4.1 but am having a few problems. The first is that the natbib does not accept the \footnote{} command and so I cannot put in footnotes in the middle of the text. The second is that all my old revtex4 files are not being accepted anymore, as revtex4.cls has now been replaced.
Please help me solve these problems!
NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.
And: Currently, Packt sells ebooks for $4.99 each if you buy 5 of their over 1000 ebooks. If you choose only a single one, $9.99. How about combining 3 LaTeX books with Python, gnuplot, mathplotlib, Matlab, ChatGPT or other AI books? Epub and PDF. Bundle (3 books, add more for higher discount): https://packt.link/MDH5p
Now I removed the texlive and texlive publishers with "sudo apt-get autoremove" and tried to reinstall them with "sudo apt-et install". I made things even worse because now I not only get the message "revtex4.cls' not found" but also "revtex4.1.cls' not found" when I try using revtex4.1.
I would be very greatful if someone could help me solve these problems urgently!
Another thing to note is that revtex 4.1 comes with revtex4-1.cls rather than revtex4.cls, so you need to adjust your old documents to \documentclass{revtex4-1} to use it.
Thanyou, but it didn't work! when I try to install ttlmgr with "apt-get install ttlmgr" it says it cannot find the package, and when I try "apt-get install revtex revtex4" it says the same thing. I installed texlive and texlive-publishers, shouldn't that already contain these packages? I also downloaded revtex4-1 from the aps website and followed the installations instructions, but it still doesn't work. When I use \documentclass{}{revtex4} the compilation doesn't find revtex4.cls and when I change to \documentclass{}{revtex4.1} it cannot find revtex4-1.cls.
The instructions I gave you are for TL'09 as distributed by http://www.tug.org/texlive. Various distributions do their own packaging and I can't help you with any problems coming from there (you don't even say which distro you use). All I can tell you is that both: revtex 4.1 and revtex 4 are available from the current TL'09 (but revtex 4 was readded with regular updates after the release, so it was not there initially). Both of them work properly to the best of my knowledge.
