Switching Character Sets

Post by waxranger »

Dear all,

I have this problem I just wont get familiar with. I have an emacs copy on my memory stick and work on Windows machines sometimes. I usually work with Linux and thus have the utf8x option for the inputenc package set. Then, when I create a new tex file on linux, continue to work on it on a windows machine and compile it eventually on linux using TeXLive, it works fine. However, creating a new tex file on windows and continuing to work on it on linux and compile it there too does not work. I've tried to change the inputenc option to latin1 as well and ran latex by evoking

env LANG=C latex foo.tex

for a different environment and it did not work.

I'm not an expert on character sets but it would be neat if I could get this to work, thus if someone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Fab
