i am trying to use achemso class for writing an ACS journal. I am able to select it from Documents>Settings, but upon selection, my title, authors and affiliation do not have a heading and when i try to compile my article to pdf, it complains about errors.
other classes work well, article works fine, Elsevier works fine, just achemso (article ACS) gives me trouble.
any help?

i am running gentoo linux. i have checked and moved achemso folder with achemso.sty in it to TEXMFLOCAL (# /user/local/share/texmf) as defined inside texmf.cnf, I also put it inside TEXMFHOME ($ ~/texmf), even though i understand this was not necessary. i copied achemso.layout to ~/.lyx/layouts and edited it according to the configuration manual. i have done this on two different machines running Lyx. i then "texhash" and Tools>Reconfigure as instructed.
my x86 box shows the "article (ACS)" Document Class but when selected it does not have title, author, affiliation and other headers assigned and it also chokes with errors upon compilation to pdf (these error do not occur for the same document using a different but similar class).
my amd64 box does NOT show the "article (ACS)" document class (it only shows it as Unavailable) unless I manually edit the ~/.lyx/textclass.lst file with a "true" instead" of false for achemso. once i do that, the same problem occurs as it happens on the x86 machine.
may i get some help with this class. i would like to have the proper ACS formatting if possible.

wow, after few days of work i have fixed this. i have downloaded the new achemso package files from acs: http://pubs.acs.org/page/4authors/submission/tex.html then unzipped them in the "local" location as i described above. i ran texhash and Tools > Reconfigure in Lyx then restarted Lyx.
it works now. even though it did not work with achemso files existing with Lyx installation. the only difference is the files I downloaded have a achemso.sty file and the old files did not.

if i look at the demo file for achemso: http://wiki.lyx.org/Layouts/Achemso see section "Examples". it says title, author and affiliation should be mentioned in Preamble section available from Document > Settings > Preamble. It is already written in there, just copy and paste to preamble of document you are using (maybe save as class defaults)
