Document Classes ⇒ footnotes in title/author of elsart3p document

Dear friends,

I am using the document class elsart3p.
I want to add footnotes to the sections and to the authors as is shown in the attached screen shots.
However, when I use the code

\title{My title\footnote{my foot note}}

it gives an error.
I need help in adding foot notes to the title (see the star in the first image) and to the author (see the letters and the asterisk in the authors' names) if possible.

Read Section 4 (Frontmatter, p. 4f) of the elsevier manual and pay special attention to figures 3 (p. 8) and 4 (p. 9).
