Kile ⇒ kile keeps crashing. PLEASE help

Hi,

I have a kile installation that keeps on crashing whenever I try to start the application. The application never gets started fully, and then kile crashes. I even tried to remove and reinstall kile on Linux with Fedora 12 and yum, but it does not help.
Before kile keeps on crashing I was just trying to select a different font from within kile. Do kile stores infoormation in my home directory that I can delete? But I cannot find a directory named .kile.

PLEASE HELP so solve this problem. How can I use kile again!!

Some more info: kile seem to crash because of a floating point exception (signal 8).

Any ideas how I can fix that without installing Fedora 12 from scratch.. ?

Hi,


I found no solution, but I tried something to get it working again.

1. I de-installed kile with "yum erase kile"
2. I deleted the kilerc file in .kde/share/config/
3. I reinstalled kile with "yum install kile", which installed version 2.1-0.6.b3.fc12.


With that installation of kile, kile briefly started but crashed whe I was trying to open a tex file, now kile is crashing right away. I am using kde version 4.1.1 and the crash happens just right after I am being asked about tools that need to be upgraded. Any selection leads to the crash.
It works fine when I use kile as root, which I would like not to do.

So what the hell is going on? Maybe someone knows a similar tool I can use within kde on Linux?

I can't say what's wrong with kile, but you may try TeXMakerX or Texmaker as alternatives.
